YUTA - Technical

As part of our on-going recruitment process to establish a pool of qualified candidates for various current and future temporary technical opportunities at York University, YUTA is continuously accepting applications for Technical Assistants.

What can you expect?

While Technical assignments vary in responsibility and duration, some of the duties you may be responsible for include:

Providing timely and knowledgeable technical support to faculty members, staff and students; analyze, diagnose, maintain, and recommend or provide solutions for problems with hardware/computers, operating systems, application software and office equipment; upgrades computer hardware/software and related components/devices; server administration; website maintenance, design and development; database support, design and development; and other related duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you possess?

Although the qualifications required for specific assignments will vary, the typical qualifications for Technical positions include:

• Prior experience providing hands on technical support, including the setup, installation, and configuration of hardware and software, trouble shooting and resolving problems.
• Strong technical skills and understanding of IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of computer operating systems, particularly Windows desktop and server technology.
• Experience in web design including updating and maintaining websites.
• Willingness to learn, keep abreast of and master new technologies.
• Must possess excellent analytical skills to diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems
• Strong oral communication skills to elicit accurate information and respond to inquiries.
• Effective project and time management skills.

YUTA - Customer Service/Receptionist

As part of our on-going recruitment process to establish a pool of qualified candidates for various current and future temporary customer service opportunities at York University, YUTA is continuously accepting applications for Customer Service Associates

What can you expect?

While customer service assignments vary in responsibility and duration, some of the duties you may be responsible for include:

Responding to in-person and telephone enquiries from students, Faculty and the general public and answering the telephone(s) to provide optimal customer service including relaying basic information to callers. Other general office duties may include: filing, faxing, photocopying, processing forms, data entry, basic word processing, scheduling meetings and booking appointments for staff members and other related duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you possess?

Although the qualifications required for specific assignments will vary, the typical qualifications for customer service positions include:

• Experience providing exceptional customer service and responding to inquiries.
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with people.
• Experience working in a similar large, unionized or academic environment.
• Excellent keyboarding and data entry skills with an emphasis on accuracy.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office programs including Word and Excel in a Windows-based environment.
• Knowledge and familiarity with Lotus Notes and SIS (Student Information System), PES, GEM, ADM is a definite asset.
• Ability to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility when working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well independently as well as demonstrated judgment and decision making skills to deal with competing priorities.
